Corporate Lawyer (3Yrs PQ+)

Dundee or Glasgow

At Thorntons Law, every moment matters. Join us as a Corporate Lawyer and you’ll feel empowered. You’ll feel connected. You’ll feel like you’re building something exciting. And it all begins from the moment you join us.

That’s because we’ve created a different kind of law firm. One that’s growing with purpose, staying true to its roots while building a modern, national presence. Here, you’ll work with ambitious businesses, visionary entrepreneurs, and some of Scotland’s most respected lawyers. You’ll shape what happens now, and what comes next. And we’ll support you with the guidance, flexibility, and challenge you need to thrive.

This is what life at Thorntons is all about. And this is your moment to be part of it.

About the role

In this role, you’ll be a key part of our Corporate team—advising clients and working closely with one of Scotland’s most well-respected corporate partners. Based in either Dundee or Glasgow (with hybrid working supported), you’ll get stuck into varied, fast-paced, and high-impact corporate work across Scotland and beyond. It’s about:

• Supporting M&A transactions – Acting for buyers and sellers across a range of sectors including tech, renewables, manufacturing, and more.
• Leading on group restructurings and reorganisations – Supporting businesses to scale, adapt and stay future-ready.
• Providing corporate governance advice – Guiding boards and shareholders through key decisions and responsibilities.
• Structuring joint ventures, partnerships, and collaborations – Creating bespoke commercial arrangements that support client growth.
• Advising on private equity and investment deals – Helping clients navigate complex funding rounds and growth strategies.
• Building strong, trusted relationships – Working directly with clients and mentoring junior colleagues within a close-knit team.
• Growing your profile – Working with a collaborative partner with a quality deal flow across Scotland

What you’ll need

We’re looking for:

• Experience in corporate law with strong exposure to M&A, general advisory, and transactional work.
• At least 3 years’ post-qualification experience in corporate law—this role offers excellent progression opportunities but is also well-suited to more experienced lawyers looking for a new challenge.
• A passion for delivering high-quality, commercially focused advice.
• Confidence working with clients directly and managing your own workload.
• A collaborative, solutions-oriented approach that makes you a go-to team player.
• Someone who is team-oriented, client-focused, and motivated to grow

Why Thorntons

• A firm with real strength, depth, and national ambition.
• A place where your work shapes Scottish business—and your future.
• A culture that values clarity, collaboration, and doing the right thing.
• A supportive environment with mentorship from some of the best in the field.
• Career development that’s tailored to your goals—not a one-size-fits-all path.
