Associate – Motor and Large Loss

Keoghs Scotland is growing! Step into a high-impact Associate role within our renowned Large Loss/Motor team where you will be working closely with the Partner on the investigation and defence of challenging and rewarding large loss and catastrophic injury cases. You can look forward to managing your own reduced caseload of litigated motor files. In addition, you will also play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the team, with opportunities to appear in court and take on supervisory responsibilities as our team continues to expand. This role would be perfect for those at Associate level or sufficiently qualified senior solicitors looking to take the next step in their legal career.

Key Accountabilities

• Forensic review and analysis of relevant documents
• Analysis of liability, quantum and causation
• Assisting in drafting strategic legal advice
• Instructing medical experts and liaising with clients
• Attending court and supporting counsel
• Drafting documents and correspondence to clients, courts and witnesses
• Assisting Partners and other members of the team where required
• Assisting in business development initiatives, including drafting of articles, blog pieces, e-shots and presentations and attendance at relevant events

Working Hours

• 35 hours per week
• Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Other working patterns may be considered.
• Primary location for this role is the Glasgow Office although we operate flexible working.

Essential Skills and Attributes

• Qualified solicitor with relevant legal experience
• Litigation experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent forensic skills
• Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure
• Previous experience of time recording is preferable
• The ability to work as part of a team and independently
