Youth bail and remand research project appeals for interview subjects

Researchers looking at the use of bail and remand for young people across Scotland have appealed for those with experience of the system to get in touch.

The Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice (CYCJ) is undertaking the research to better understand how the experience of going through the criminal justice system affects young people and their families.

Under-18s who have experience of bail and remand in the last two years, or those who know someone who fits the bill, have been encouraged to get in touch.

Researchers particularly want to hear about their experience and how they felt about decisions made about them or their loved ones, and what supports they received during this time.

Participants are being invited to an interview in a suitable location for around 45 minutes, and have been assured that they don’t have to answer or talk about anything they don’t want to, and no names will be used in the report.

More information about how to participate is available on the CYCJ website.
