Glasgow Caledonian Law Clinic has won the Public Services Award at the Evening Times Glasgow Community Champion Awards.

The clinic was set up in March 2014 by law lecturer Claire McFadzean and is a student-led and student-run initiative designed to promote access to justice in the name of the common good.

Since opening in 2014 it has helped those in the greater Glasgow area in numerous different ways and has taken on over 100 cases, with its most common areas being housing, contract, employment and traffic.

It also has a street law project which has seen its volunteers work with primary schools, secondary school and colleges.

Clinic member and future trainee at Dentons Scott Buchanan, one of SLN’s Lawyers of Tomorrow, said: “I am delighted to be part of the team from the GCU Law Clinic collecting the Public Services Award at the Evening Times Community Champion Awards.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time as part of the management team during the last year of my undergraduate degree and am delighted to see the hard work continued by the new management team!”
