Whisky firm threatens hate group with legal action over logo

An extremist hate group in the US has been threatened with legal action for using a logo that resembles the Johnnie Walker whisky “Striding Man” image.

The Proud Boys were seen at a pro-gun rally in Richmond, Virginia with merchandise that displayed a logo similar to the striding man but with a different colour scheme.

The group used yellow and black as opposed to the red, white and black of the whisky firm.

A spokesman for Diageo said: “We stand for inclusion and diversity and have a strong, consistent track record in promoting values of social justice.

“This is a serious infringement of our intellectual property and we will take whatever action is required to protect the integrity of our brand.”
