Advocate Ximena Vengoechea will be among the participants at an upcoming event that seeks to promote the work of the Colombian Truth Commission and reach out to the Colombian diaspora.
The commission is one of the organisations established in 2017 after the peace process between the armed forces and FARC. One of the main speakers is Peter Drury, the commission’s representative for the UK.
It is estimated that some 5,000,000 people have left Colombia as a direct consequence of the conflict as refugees, exiles or other.
Artists and experts in peace and conflict studies will discuss the contribution of the arts as a means to aid the processes of recognition, reconciliation and peacebuilding after a protracted conflict.
