Vitalii Diakov raises funds for Scottish Refugee Council

Mr Diakov, is a member of the National Bar Association of Ukraine, and has been practising as a lawyer since 2010. He arrived in Scotland from Odesa with his wife Hanna at the outbreak of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Since settling in Dundee, he and his wife have established Ukrainians Together in Scotland, a social enterprise working with newly arrived families and local authorities to overcome barriers to successful communication and integration through using conflict resolution and trauma-informed practice. Ukrainians Together actively participates in the Regional Integration Network established by Scottish Refugee Council.

Mr Diakov said: “As someone with lived experience of displacement, I know how important it is to be met with dignity, kindness, respect and a genuine sense of welcome when rebuilding your life in a new country.

“For the past three years, I’ve also been proud to serve as a trustee of Scottish Refugee Council and support its work helping people rebuild their lives, access vital services and stand up for their rights.

“Last year, Scottish Refugee Council supported 517 people facing homelessness and extreme poverty, helping them to access mental health services, get legal advice and find food and clothing.
