Tumbling Lassie event: So we have no slaves in Scotland?

Thursday 15 December 2022

4.30pm at the Mackenzie Building, High Street, Edinburgh – registration opens at 4pm

Faculty’s Tumbling Lassie Committee are delighted to announce their first post-Covid educational and social event, a seminar and reception at which a key note address will be delivered by the Solicitor General for Scotland, Ruth Charteris KC.

Her presentation, entitled So we have no slaves in Scotland?, will discuss the challenges for the criminal justice system in picking up on situations where accused people are in fact victims of trafficking and/or have been forced into criminality in a form of modern slavery, and the Lord Advocate’s Instructions about such circumstances.

The event, chaired by Eric Robertson, advocate-depute, will be in-person only. It will be followed by a reception with mulled wine and mince pies, where Tumbling Lassie supporters can get together again after the Covid-related delays. It qualifies for an hour of Substantive Law CPD for members of Faculty.

Pre-registration is not required and queries can be directed to tumblinglassie@gmail.com
