Top ranking for Compass Chambers in Legal 500 UK 2026

Compass Chambers and its members have once again received top rankings from the Legal 500 in the 2026 edition of the directory.
Compass received 26 individual rankings across three practice areas. It was once again recognised as a top tier stable in both Crime & Regulatory and Personal Injury & Medical Negligence.
In Crime and Regulatory, Compass has 11 members ranked. The directory states that Compass is “viewed by clients as ‘unquestionably the leading stable for health and safety’. It also reports the stable is “excellent in relation to regulatory crime matters”. Gavin Anderson KC, Peter Gray KC, Murdo Macleod KC, Barry Smith KC, Angela Grahame KC, Claire Mitchell KC and Mark Stewart KC are ranked as Leading Silks. Barney Ross, Emma Toner, Clare Connelly and Carla Fraser are ranked as Leading Juniors.
In Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, Compass has 14 members ranked. The directory states that Compass has “very good strength in depth for personal injury work”. It also reports “the outstanding team is equally adept at handling complex clinical negligence cases”. The stable has an impressive number of silks recognised in this area with Robert Milligan KC, Lesley Shand KC, Astrid Smart KC, Amber Galbraith KC, Graeme Middleton KC, Kay Springham KC and Calum Wilson KC all ranked as Leading Silks. In addition Kate Bennett, Robin Cleland, Barney Ross, Clare Connelly, Adam Black, Bruce Langlands and Elaine Russell are all ranked as Leading Juniors.
It also has one members ranked in the Administrative and Public Law category with Dominic Scullion ranked as a Leading Junior.
There is praise for the clerking team with the directory reporting that they are “exceptional”.
“They are proactive, approachable and very responsive. Lesley Hogg is extremely approachable and goes above and beyond.” It also states “Gavin Herd is excellent and organises his stable very efficiently.”
