Top graduate seeks new opportunities

Damon Allan

An enthusiastic graduate who has unfortunately been made redundant is seeking a role in Edinburgh or West Lothian.

Damon Allan was awarded a first class LLB (hons.) degree in 2018 from the University of Edinburgh, with an Erasmus year at Universiteit Leiden, in the Netherlands. He received his diploma the following year, also from Edinburgh, in which he obtained top marks in the civil court practice and financial services and related skills courses, winning awards sponsored by the Law Society of Scotland and Create and Prosper Financial Services.

Unfortunately, as a result of the pandemic, he was recently made redundant from his role as legal executive with McEwan Fraser Legal. In this position, he worked alongside a close team on a common caseload, assisting clients throughout the conveyancing process.

Before this, he gained legal experience with several larger commercial firms and the Crown Office. For over five years, during university, he also worked part-time at McDonald’s – both in Scotland and the Netherlands. He has a particular interest in family law, private client and residential conveyancing but is also interested in work in other fields.

Damon also volunteers with Children’s Hearings Scotland, and has recently completed his training as a panel member. At university, he sang as a member of the Law School Music Society choir and a cappella group, and was elected president in his final year.

Furthermore, he has an interest in languages, and – pandemic-permitting – has been attending evening classes to improve his German.
