Thorntons has achieved its biggest ever fundraising total for its annual charity wills campaign.

£35,000 has been raised for Cash for Kids following Thorntons “charity wills month”, which was held last November.

This total is £12,000 more than the total raised in 2014.

The firm has taken part in an annual campaign since 1996 to highlight the importance of creating and keeping an up-to-date will, while also raising money for a great cause.

Clients are invited to give a charitable donation instead of paying a fee to the firm for drafting or updating wills during November.

Thorntons donated all the money raised to charity and has achieved a total of more than £215,000 over the last 18 years.

Cash for Kids help support hundreds of children across Dundee, Angus, Perthshire and North Fife, funding specialist equipment for children with physical disabilities, respite for families with a chronically ill child, as well as helping to fund play schemes and outings for young carers.

Craig Nicol, joint managing partner at Thorntons, said: “Thorntons has committed to raising money for charity for a number of years and we are always overwhelmed by the support we receive from clients. This year is particularly special as we have a record breaking donation that we are able to give to Cash for Kids.

Lynda Sword, Cash for Kids charity manager said “It is difficult to explain the impact this will have on the lives of those children who are sick, disabled or underprivileged living within Tayside & North East Fife. Suffice to say that as a result of Thorntons’ professionalism and commitment, along with the support of the public, a huge number of children will benefit.”
