Thorntons launches Charity Wills in Kirkcaldy

Thorntons has pledged its support for Cash for Kids each year through a Charity Wills campaign – and this year the firm’s new Kirkcaldy office will also back the annual appeal this September.

Since 1996, when Thorntons first pledged its support, the firm has waived its fees for making or updating wills and instead asks clients for a donation to Cash for Kids. To date, the firm has raised an impressive £230,000 for the children’s charity.

Cash for Kids supports hundreds of children across Kirkcaldy and Fife, helping to purchase specialist equipment for children with physical disabilities, respite for families with a chronically ill child, and helps to fund play schemes and outings for young carers.

Last year, Thorntons raised £25,000 during Charity Wills month.

Grant Hamilton, partner at Thorntons in Kirkcaldy, said: “Thorntons is always overwhelmed by the support from clients for this campaign and we are delighted to be able to support a charity which does such vital work for children and families across Scotland.

“Our Charity Wills campaign is also a great opportunity to highlight the importance of having an up-to-date Will. Many people don’t realise how vital a Will is, especially when it can help avoid issues such as extra costs, delays and family disputes after your passing.

”We hope that in our milestone year, we can aim for another record breaking fundraising total.”
