The Trusts (Scotland) Bill: The blueprint for a state-of-the-art system in Scotland

The Edinburgh Tax Network, in conjunction with Trustbar, will present a seminar to celebrate the Trusts (Scotland) Bill (SLC 239) – the first major reform of Scottish Trust law to have been proposed in 100 years. The event will be held on Wednesday 16th June from 5.30pm to 7.45pm at Parliament House, Edinburgh.

The event is sponsored by Turcan Connell and will feature addresses from an illustrious panel of experts:-

Lady Paton, Inner House Judge of the Court of Session and Chairman of the Scottish Law Commission (SLC), will discuss the SLC and its work;

Lord Drummond Young, retired Inner House Judge of the Court of Session, former Chairman of the SLC and chief architect of the Bill will consider the practical importance and scope of the trust;

Lord Tyre, Commercial Judge of the Court of Session; former Scottish Law Commissioner and past President, Confédération Fiscale Européenne who will explore the Family Trust in 2021;

Kate Forbes, MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance who will discuss the Scottish Government’s view.

The seminar has been accredited by the Faculty of Advocates as contributing 2 hours CPD for its own members and is eligible for a similar award from the Law Society for the solicitor branch of the profession.

There is a charge of £25 per person and attendance can be either in-person or online.
