The McKinstry Company continues to expand in the South West of Scotland

Leading Ayrshire law practice, The McKinstry Company, is pleased to confirm its acquisition of the long established and prestigious Girvan law firm, Lambert & Co., Solicitors.

The acquisition, completed on 31 December 2025, represents a further development of The McKinstry Company, which offers a range of services across the legal spectrum including all aspects of property transactions, Wills and inheritance tax planning, business law, litigation and family law.

The firm now comprises four partners with 14 solicitors across three offices, which are in Girvan, Ayr and Dalry and together boasts a huge range of knowledge, skills and legal expertise. The principal of Lambert & Co., Alistair Lambert will continue as consultant to The McKinstry Company until the summer of 2026 to ensure a smooth transition of the business. Alistair’s team at Lambert & Co. will all join The McKinstry Company and be based within The McKinstry Company’s Girvan office at 146 Dalrymple Street.

On completion of the acquisition, Robert Honeyman, managing partner, commented: “We are delighted to formalise our association with Lambert & Co. and are grateful to Mr Lambert to have the opportunity to acquire his practice. Lambert & Co. has enjoyed a strong reputation and client following over many decades in Girvan and the surrounding area.

“Our Girvan office is headed up by my partner, Debbie Dunlop, who has run the Girvan office since 2016, very shortly after our acquisition of Murray & Tait. The acquisition of Lambert & Co. will build on our offering to clients in Girvan and the South West of Scotland. With the support of Alistair and his existing team we will continue the high standards of client service established by Alistair and look forward to welcoming clients to our office at 146 Dalrymple Street in Girvan.

“I am very grateful to all our clients for giving me the opportunity to act on their behalf, and I am confident that The McKinstry Company will continue to represent their interests to the highest standards. I look forward to the transition of our business into The McKinstry Company and other than a change to the office address our clients can expect the same high standards of service and the same team that they have been used to over the years. I will be continuing to practise as a consultant with the firm, and I very much look forward to that.”
