Tae a Gok – counsel’s new take on a Burns classic

Gok Wan and Edith Forrest

Advocate Edith Forrest is a Burns Supper veteran, having spoken at dinners from Kilmarnock to Kazakhstan and London to Lerwick, but there was still something new for her at her latest appearance.

Television’s Gok Wan toasted the lassies at the Microsoft Scotland charity supper in the National Museum of Scotland, with Miss Forrest giving the reply.

“He was very good, particularly as this was his first ever Burns Supper and he claimed to know nothing of Robert Burns. In my reply, I included an adaptation of Burns’ famous poem, ‘The Address to the Haggis’, which I called, ‘Tae a Gok’,” said Miss Forrest.

“It was a great evening and raised £80,000 for three charities, Aberlour, Children 1st and Deafblind Scotland.”
