SYLA: Spotlight on charities sector event takes place next week

Thursday 26 April 2018

17:30 – 19:00

Lindsays, Caledonian Exchange,

19A Canning Street, Edinburgh

Our Spotlight on… series will continue on Thursday 26 April with a focus on the Charities Sector.

The Spotlight On… series examines a different business sector at each event, profiling hot topics and legal issues facing the sector, as well as discussing commercial and business drivers. Its purpose is to help build deeper commercial and industry knowledge among young lawyers, using a sector based approach. For this event, we will be focusing on the Charities Sector in Scotland.

This event will be chaired by Alastair Keatinge, partner & Head of Charities at Lindsays. Alastair is accredited as a specialist in Charity Law by the Law Society of Scotland. He has been advising charity and not-for-profit clients for more than 20 years, focusing on the governance aspects of charity law including corporate governance, constitutional issues and charity reorganisations.

We will also hear from Julie Hutchison, Charities Specialist at Standard Life Wealth, who will be speaking about the “The Informed Trustee”. Promoted by STEP, The Informed Trustee is a qualification aimed at young professionals who are interested in becoming charity trustees.

Our third speaker will be Anne Marie O’Hara, CEO of the Albion Trust, a charity which has established the Norton Park office complex in Edinburgh, the first shared premises project for third sector organisations in Scotland. Anne Marie will talk about her role as CEO of a charity and how she works with professional advisors.

This event is kindly hosted by Lindsays and may count for 1 hour’s CPD. It will take place on Thursday 26 April at Lindsays’ offices in Edinburgh. Registration will be from 5.30pm and the event will run from 6pm sharp.

We look forward to welcoming you then! Please sign up here.
