SYLA: So you want to be... a judge?

Have you ever thought about becoming a member of the judiciary? Are you wondering what you can start to do now to put you in a position to apply in the future? Do you want to know more about what is involved in these jobs?

The SYLA has partnered with the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland to explore this career path in the first in its “So you want to be… ?” series this year.

The event will take place on Wednesday 19 September 2018 at the Law Society of Scotland, Atria One, Morrison Street, Edinburgh

The evening’s panel will comprise of a sheriff, summary sheriff and tribunal president. Attendees will hear about how each of these interesting individuals have forged a career on the bench and speakers will talk through a typical day (if there is one) in their role.

They will share their experience and tips for those considering following in their footsteps. Sheriff Mike O’Grady in his role as Judicial Appointments Board member will also address attendees on the role and work of the board.

The event will commence at 5:45pm for a 6pm sharp start and will be followed by a Q&A session.
