Supreme Court judicial assistants to speak at virtual event this month

Judicial assistants (JAs) from the Supreme Court are to speak at a virtual event hosted by the Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association later this month.

This event offers the opportunity to learn more about the role and to hear from those who have experienced life working at the court, the work they have been involved in and how this role has changed during the pandemic.

Delegates will hear from Chris Maile, head of HR; Rachel Malloch, JA to Lord Hodge; and Rebecca Fry, head JA.

Ms Malloch studied law and completed her diploma at the University of Glasgow. She went on to complete her training contract with CMS and later became an associate at Linklaters.

Ms Fry studied law at the University of Oxford before completing a masters at the University of Toronto. She trained with Farrer & Co in London and qualified as a solicitor in 2011. Before joining the court she was head of legal policy for the Charity Commission for England and Wales. She is responsible for leading and managing the team of JAs and is herself JA to Lord Lloyd-Jones.

SLN covered last year’s JA event in Edinburgh, which heard from Francesca Ruddy and Rachel Barrett.
