Suits you sir! Law Society Staff take over charity shop in aid of Nepal Earthquake

Law Society staff are swapping a day in the office for a day running an Edinburgh charity shop to raise funds for Save the Children’s Nepal Earthquake appeal.

Six Law Society of Scotland employees will be taking over Mary’s Living and Giving Shop for Save the Children in the heart of Edinburgh’s Stockbridge next month and are appealing to solicitors to help them raise as much money as possible by donating high quality clothes and accessories to sell on the day.

Law Society staff member Lindsay Young said: “I have made regular donations to Save the Children for years. However, when the opportunity arose to work in the shop for a day, with all funds raised going directly to the Nepal appeal, I jumped at the chance to be a part of it.

“Mary’s Living and Giving Shop sells top-end high street and designer clothes and we are appealing to Law Society members to help us by raiding their wardrobes. I know there are some very stylish solicitors out there, and this is a great opportunity for them to have a clear out as well as help people who have been left devastated by the earthquake in Nepal.

“For those of you who have already spring cleaned your wardrobe for the year, don’t worry, you can still help us raise funds by donating to our Just Giving page or by popping down to the shop to see us in action – we promise some surprises on the day!”

How to make a donation

Our volunteers would be happy to collect donations of clothes from law firms in Edinburgh. Please contactcsrshop@lawscot.org.uk to arrange this by Friday 5 June. We are also able to accept donations from outside Edinburgh by legal post, or feel free to drop off your donations when you’re next at Drumsheugh Gardens. Please note that the shop sells good quality high street and designer clothes and they must be in reasonable condition.

If you do not have any items to donate but wish to contribute to our appeal you can make a donation via Just Giving at https://www.justgiving.com/lawsocietyscotlandCSR

All monies raised via this page will go directly to Save the Children’s Nepal Appeal.
