Shoosmiths acts for M Squared Lasers in health research agreement

Shoosmiths has advised laser developer and manufacturer M Squared Lasers on an agreement to develop new technologies with the University of St Andrews.

M Squared Lasers develops and manufactures lasers and photonic instruments for industrial and scientific purposes.

The business has over twenty years of experience in R&D and manufacturing.

The patent licence agreement covers more than 100 patents, which researchers will use to develop commercial applications for the health sector.

The patents cover areas such as imaging and raman spectroscopic analysis which can be used in the fight against cancer by accurately distinguishing between normal and unhealthy cells and tissue.

Stuart Malcolm, partner in the IPCI Team, led the negotiations with the University of St Andrews assisted by Olly Leyden, IP solicitor.
