Sheriff Muir Russell QC

The death has been announced of Muir Russell QC, who served as a sheriff at Aberdeen for 20 years. He was 92.

Albert Muir Galloway Russell, son of a judge, Lord Russell, was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1951, after serving as a lieutenant in the Scots Guards. He took silk in 1965 and was appointed a sheriff in 1971, retiring in 1991. He served as chair of the Sheriff Court Rules Council, and was made a CBE in the 1989 New Year Honours.
