Scottish Youth Parliament to launch new manifesto

The Scottish Youth Parliament (SYP) will launch its next manifesto on 6 September.

The document serves as a roadmap to achieve the changes sought by young people across the country over the next five years, with the next edition to be launched at the upcoming sitting, SYP’s annual gathering for the whole membership.

The 2026–2031 manifesto follows a nationwide consultation which asked almost 5,000 young people aged 12–25 for their views on today’s most pressing issues. Over the past few months, members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) have thoroughly analysed the data to shape the final document.

Ellie Craig, chair of SYP, said: “MSYPs have worked tirelessly this year to ensure the policies in the new manifesto reflect young people’s views and are presented in a way that is accessible not only to them but decision makers too.

“We’re incredibly proud that some of the policies from the previous manifesto achieved significant progress in improving young people’s lives, such as the Under-22s Free Bus Travel Scheme and the Incorporation of UNCRC, which showcases the positive impact which can be had when those in power not only listen but act.

“The launch of our new manifesto is just the beginning; we’ll continue to work closely with decision-makers to ensure these policies are implemented within the next five years.”
