Scottish silks shortlisted for Legal 500 Bar award

Two Scottish QCs have been recognised by Legal 500 and named as finalists for regional senior counsel of the year.

Mark Stewart QC, of Compass Chambers (pictured right), recently appeared in a number of complex FAIs including the Jim Clark and Snowman rally case as well as the Glasgow Bin Lorry inquiry.

Mr Stewart has a strong record in serious and organised crime, regulatory crime and domestic and international arbitration. He took silk in 2005 and has sat as a part-time sheriff and part-time judge in the Court of Session and High Court.

Roddy Dunlop QC, of Axiom Advocates, has also been named as a finalist. His principal fields of practice include media law, judicial review, property damage, professional and medical negligence and regulation, insurance litigation, and commercial litigation.

He has appeared in a number of high profile cases including Royal Bank of Scotland plc v Carlyle; Timothy Morrison and others v Alistair Carmichael MP and Alistair Buchan and G v Watson.

Mr Dunlop took silk in 2010 and was standing junior counsel to the Scottish government between 2008 and 2010. He is also part time chairman of the Police Appeals Tribunal.
