Scottish Rugby lawmen seek to defend world title

The Law Society of Scotland RFC are participating in the Law Rugby World Cup 2015 hosted by the Law Society RFC at Richmond Athletic Ground between 14 and 16 October 2015.

This is the third time that the Law World Cup has been held and the LSS RFC are the current undefeated champions having won the inaugural tournament in Paris in 2007 before successfully defending their crown in Edinburgh in 2009.

The tournament has been organised to coincide with the “real” Rugby World Cup being hosted in England this year.

Teams from the Law Societies of: England; Scotland; Cayman Islands; Australia; France; Italy; New Zealand; and Ireland will all be in attendance.

The tournament will open with a Gala Reception being held at The Law Society in Chancery Lane on Wednesday 14th October followed by two full days of competitive rugby at Richmond Athletic Ground, the home of London Scottish RFC.

A festival of rugby and entertainment for spectators and participants is promised from both within and outwith the global legal profession throughout the course of the tournament.

Gregor Hayworth, club treasurer, said: “The guys are really looking forward to meeting up in London to defend the Cup. We have been preparing for this tournament for over a year now and have brought together a strong squad.

“We are anticipating a tough challenge, particularly from our English counterparts, but we are hopeful of bringing another World Cup back to Scotland.”

For updates on their tournament progress the club can be reached on twitter at @LSSRfc.

The club are also pleased to announce a sponsorship agreement has been struck with international law firm, CMS, until the end of the 2016/2017 season.
