Scotland beat Australia by 1 point in Lawyers’ World Cup

The Law Society of Scotland RFC returned from the Law Rugby World Cup 2015 as Plate Winners coming third in the tournament overall after a victory against the Australian team 15 - 14.

Ireland beat Scotland and are now the World champions after defeating the hosts, England, in the final.

The club wishes to thank its sponsor CMS for its support for the tournament.

The club’s captain, Gavin McGregor from Clyde & Co said: “It was a fantastic event, superbly organised by the English Law Society.

“It was an exciting time to be in London during the main RWC. The competition was a great way to meet solicitors from across the globe and enjoy some rugby.”

A member of the club’s committee, Robin Turnbull from Anderson Strathern, said: “If any Scottish lawyers, students or those with a Scots law degree are interested in joining or have any contacts who may be interested and qualify, we would encourage them to get in touch.

“The club has members from many firms across Scotland and a large contingent are also based in London. We are always looking for new members and we are already organising fixtures with other nations in the future.”

For those who wish to join, the club can be contacted on Facebook or by emailing robin.turnbull@andersonstrathern.co.uk.
