The British and Irish Association of Law Librarians (BIALL) have awarded the Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year 2019 accolade to Roddy Waldhelm.

The award was collected by Mr Waldhelm, head of the Solicitors Legal Information Centre (SLIC) in the Scottish Government Legal Directorate, at the BIALL Annual Conference in Bournemouth last week.

The Wildy BIALL Law Librarian of the Year award is presented each year to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the work of BIALL or the legal information world.

Mr Waldhelm was acknowledged for his extensive experience within the law library sector, as well as his involvement within government librarian networks and the Scottish Council of Law Reporting.

He has headed up the Scottish Government Legal Directorate’s library and information centre in Victoria Quay since 2001. Previously he was chief librarian at Osborne Clarke in Bristol.

This was the second time SLIC had been recognised by BIALL – in 2011 it won the award for Best Legal Information Service (Non-Commercial Sector).
