Research showcased at SULI conference

Legal academics and practitioners gathered at a conference in Dundee on Friday to share their expertise on a variety of Scots law issues.

Reflections on Scots Law was organised by the Scottish Universities Law Institute (SULI) and allowed authors of recent and forthcoming SULI texts to discuss aspects of their work and to facilitate discussion and feedback.

The full-day event was attended by over 30 people including a range of academics and practitioners.

It ranged from a first presentation on Scottish criminal procedure to the last session on cross-border issues in relation to spouses and partners.

Presentations in between covered a wide area of Scots law topics including the Scottish constitution, real burdens, planning law reforms, cautionary obligations, bankruptcy and partnership law.

Professor Barry Rodger, director of SULI, said: “It was a great opportunity for academics and practitioners to come together to discuss a range of topical and significant contemporary Scots law issues and developments and allow our SULI authors to develop and showcase their ongoing research.

“It is hoped that SULI will be able to organise more events focused on Scots law to facilitate further debate between the academy and the profession.”
