Aberdeen and north-east legal firm Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace (RCC&W) is proudly sponsoring the sports kits of two Banchory schools.

Banchory Primary’s running club has started the school year with new hi-vis running vests sponsored by the firm. The club started four years ago and now has 45 pupils in P4-7 who meet before school every Friday morning. This is the second time RCC&W have sponsored the running club, impressed by the commitment of the children.

Running Club coach Kathleen Fraser said: “We would like to thank Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace for providing the running club with hi-vis vests as it means we can safely take all the pupils out of the school grounds and enjoy some cross country runs around the Banchory area.

“We often run along the old railway line and in local woods and parks but to get to all these locations we need to cross some busy roads so the vests keep the pupils visible to road users.”

The running club is part of the Active Schools Cross Country Series. Starting in January, Banchory Primary School will compete against other primary schools in the area. They will also train for Run Balmoral in April and hope to retain their trophy for the largest number of primary school pupils running within the Large School category.

RCC&W is also delighted to sponsor Banchory Academy’s S2 football strips. The donation of £500 has provided the team with blue match kits and personalised black tops for training to replace old mismatched kits.

The team, consisting of 17 S2 boys and two S6 Coaches, train weekly and are currently looking forward to competing in both the Scottish Cup and Aberdeenshire Cup.

Manager Sophie Hunt said: “I am so proud of the boys and their achievements to date. The new kits are fantastic and the boys are over the moon to represent such a great local company. We are grateful to Raeburn Christie Clark & Wallace for their very generous sponsorship and support.”

Pamela Bursill, partner and principal of RCC&W’s Banchory branch, said: “We appreciate the hard work and commitment of both pupils and staff involved in sporting clubs such as these. In the current economic climate it is increasingly challenging for schools to obtain sponsorship.

“Supporting community initiatives is something our firm is passionate about and the Branch is delighted to be able to sponsor both a local primary and secondary school.”
