Police officers to be given 6.5 per cent pay rise

Police in Scotland are to be given a 6.5 per cent pay rise, it has been announced.

The award means will see “mid-point constables” benefit from a salary increase of £2,300 in addition to £6,000 in pay over the coming 31 months.

The increase was confirmed in a joint announcement by the Scottish Police Authority as well as Police Scotland and the Scottish government.

The pay change will be backdated to the beginning of this month and will apply until March 31, 2021.

Senior figures in the Scottish Police Federation, the body for rank and file officers, said it was biggest pay uplift in more than two decades.
