The public and lawyers were lucky to have the consistent services of legislation.gov.uk during the pandemic, and perhaps more importantly, the waves of statutory instruments (approximately 850) required to manage events as they unfolded by the day.

The assistance still offered by Coronavirus Legislation is commendable as it allows those with an interest in a geographical area, a particular problem or a general query to try to find an answer.

An important point for those considering the emergency law may be see how the relentless chronological accumulation of statutory provisions, leading to an enormous aggregation of power for the authorities.

Much of the total of delegated legislation was passed without public debate by the United Kingdom Parliament and, separately, the devolved administrations.
