New presidents appointed to Local Taxation and Social Security Chambers

Jacqui Taylor has been appointed permanent chamber president of the Local Taxation Chamber and Joy Hosie has been appointed permanent chamber president of the Social Security Chamber.

Ms Taylor has been a legal member of the First-tier Tribunal (Housing and Property) Chamber since it was established in December 2016.

She was secretary of the Renfrewshire Valuation Appeal Panel from September 2020 until 31 March 2023. She was also secretary of the Glasgow Valuation Appeal Panel from January 2022 until 31 March 2023.

She was appointed temporary president of the Local Taxation Chamber in January 2022 and led the formation of the chamber which was established on 1 April 2023.

Ms Hosie has been a tribunal judge for 25 years since being appointed to the Social Security Tribunal as legal chair in 1999 and then being appointed as First-tier Tribunal judge of the UK Social Entitlement Chamber and then the Immigration and Asylum Chamber. She was appointed as legal convenor of the Mental Health Tribunal for Scotland in 2008 and the Housing and Property Chamber in 2024. She has been a legal convenor, duty convener and member of the training committee of the Scottish Social Security Chamber since 2022.
