New positions and appointments at SYLA

The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association (SYLA) has re-elected Patricia Taylor for a second term as its president.
SYLA has created a number of new positions on its committee, at both executive and non-executive level. It now has a social media manager, supporting roles for secretary and treasurer and three new non-executive committee spaces.
The following committee members were elected at the 2024 AGM:
- President: Patricia Taylor, commercial litigation associate, DLA Piper;
- Vice president: Amina Amin, commercial contracts solicitor, Morton Fraser MacRoberts – re-elected for second term;
- Treasurer: Caitlin Bell, senior solicitor – commercial litigation, Gilson Gray;
- Secretary: Aman Uppal, trainee solicitor, Anderson Strathern;
- Social media manager: Heather Gibson, associate, infrastructure, construction and energy disputes, CMS;
- Past-president: Laila Kennedy, solicitor (commercial and civil litigation), Ledingham Chalmers.
Non-Executive Committee:
- Arthur Bell: trainee solicitor, Jameson + Mackay;
- Kate Docherty: future trainee solicitor, COPFS;
- Eisa Mahmood: DPLP student at the University of Strathclyde / future trainee solicitor, Dentons;
- Kirsten Gallacher: associate, Pogust Goodhead;
- Jay Elder: trainee solicitor, Morton Fraser MacRoberts;
- Martha Hall: 4th Year LLB student, University of Aberdeen;
- Catriona Kemp: NQ solicitor, Thorntons;
- Xinhui Lai: trainee solicitor, Angelov Solicitors;
- Emma Brown: NQ solicitor, JHS LAW;
- Aryan Arora: University of Edinburgh LLM Graduate (Innovation, Technology and Law) and paralegal.
- Amy MacLeod: first year trainee, Innes and MacKay.
