New CPD offering from Scottish Law Agents’ Society

New CPD offering from Scottish Law Agents’ Society

The Scottish Law Agents’ Society has highlighted the problems facing the profession in obtaining CPD following the Law Society of Scotland’s re-imposition of it in full as of the current practice year.

Andrew Stevenson, secretary of the Society, said: “Covid lockdown has driven everything online. This impedes the ability of local faculties to provide CPD to their members by conventional methods in traditional venues. Not only does this impact upon the social and networking benefits of CPD but it reduces choice and pushes up expense. Equally, firms who may have provided CPD in-house are faced with the difficulty that their solicitors are working from home.

“For small or rural firms who do not have the ability to provide CPD in-house the cost of accessing it is a particular problem given the financial struggles faced by practices across Scotland.

“With this is mind our society has launched a facility whereby all our members can obtain CPD free of charge. We hope that this benefit will help those of our members who are constrained by lack of money and the freedom to travel.”
