Morton Fraser to support mental health charity this year

Morton Fraser has chosen to support SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) as its charity partner for 2018 as part of a wider focus on positive mental wellbeing in the workplace.

The firm invites its 250 staff to vote for their preferred cause to support each year and mental health was the overwhelming choice.

SAMH is Scotland’s largest mental health charity. Every week, SAMH works with around 4,000 individuals in over 60 services and every day SAMH campaigns for better mental health for the people of Scotland.

Morton Fraser hopes to raise £10,000 this year through a variety of fundraising activities, auctions and events. However, the firm also aims to use the tie-up to promote positive mental health throughout the workplace. It will use advice and guidance from the charity throughout the firm and offer information and resources as well as workshops to support staff.

Maggie Moodie, chair of Morton Fraser (pictured), said: “Mental health has intrinsic links to the workplace and has perhaps been overlooked in the legal sector in the past. We take the overall wellbeing of our staff extremely seriously and try to promote diversity and agility at work. Our staff felt a keen interest in this cause and we are delighted to be able to support SAMH this year.”

SAMH director of external affairs Jo Anderson said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as Morton Fraser’s charity partner this year.

“While stress sometimes has its roots outside of work, it is the most common cause of work related illness. Morton Fraser’s approach shows they are committed to the mental health and wellbeing of their employees.

“We also want to thank Morton Fraser for their plans to raise money to support the work of SAMH through their upcoming charity events.”
