McQueen Legal has announced the promotion of Pamela McKeand to partner.

The promotion of Ms McKeand comes when she is currently off on maternity leave. The firm has 20 staff (95 per cent of whom are women) and is lead by an all-female partnership.

The firm is recognised for being a family-friendly firm and for supporting local community causes. Its recent partnership with Marie Curie, along with its involvement in local fetes and its famous annual Santa’s Grotto event, emphasise the spirit and culture of the firm.

Partner Mary McQueen said: “As a firm of only female partners for a long time, we are delighted to be promoting another female solicitor and helping her to break through that glass ceiling.

“Reports still show a gender gap in the UK’s workforce and despite equal numbers of men and women studying law at university, there are relatively few females who reach the top of the big law firms.

“From work environments to career progression it is important that the legal profession starts to nurture the talent it has developed. Pamela will be an asset to our clients and will further strengthen the firm’s residential conveyancing and estate agency services.”

Ms McKeand added: “It is refreshing to be working at a firm who recognise the important of nurturing female talent and in an environment that cultivates this. In today’s world this should be a given, but unfortunately in many law firms this is not always the case”.

Ms McKeand qualified as a solicitor in 1999, and specialises in residential property. She also has experience in private client work and joined McQueen Legal from Anderson Strathern in 2013.
