Lord Ericht to talk language at Strathclyde event

The event will take place at 6pm on Thursday 24 September in room 423 of the Learning and Teaching Building (Dame Jocelyn Bell-Burnell Wing).

Lord Ericht was appointed to the Inner House of the Court of Session in February 2025. He has served as a judge in the Commercial Court, judicial lead for the Upper Tribunal for Scotland, in the UK Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber) and as a chairman of the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal.

Lord Ericht is a past president of the Scottish section of the Franco-British Lawyers Society and was appointed as a part-time visiting lecturer at the Université de Lorraine, France from 1993 – 2016. He is also the Scottish judge on the Franco-British Irish Judicial Cooperation Committee, and completed a placement at the Cour de Cassation and Conseil d’État in 2019.

He will be discussing the importance of languages in a legal career, studying and working abroad, and getting involved in the work of the Franco-British Legal Community.
