Listed firm Gateley sees revenue rise 13 per cent

Gateley, the first law firm to float on the London Stock Exchange, has seen its revenue rise by 13 per cent in the past year.

The company’s turnover for the year to April reached £137.2 million while profit increased by almost 12 per cent to £21.6m. Consequently, earnings per share rose by 7.3 per cent to 12p.

The final dividend of the year was 5.5p per share, which was added to an interim dividend of 3p a share that was made in February, meaning the total stands at 8.5p per share.

The firm also said it was preparing to launch a £20m litigation funding pot that would deal with long-term disputes.

In 2015, it became the first firm to be publicly listed on the LSE following a 2007 law that enabled external investment in legal businesses.

Gateley said that it had delivered a “strong financial performance” through “significant organic growth and strengthening the business further through diversification and investment into new complementary service lines, while maintaining control on costs in the face of market specific and macro-economic headwinds”.
