Lindsays advises Stark’s Park Properties on Raith Rovers restructuring

Lindsays’ sports law team, led by partner, Douglas Roberts, advised John Sim and David Sinton of Stark’s Park Properties (SPP) on the acquisition of the controlling interest in Raith Rovers Football Club.

The club has had a complicated corporate structure since the “Reclaim the Rovers” fundraising campaign and takeover in 2005 and SPP already owned the club’s stadium in Kirkcaldy.

The restructure, bringing the club and the stadium under single ownership, has been well-received by supporters and provides great financial security to the football club.

David Sinton, director of SPP, said: “This acquisition proved particularly complex due to the number of shareholders involved. Time was of the essence due to the poor financial state of the Club and to complicate matters my fellow Stark’s Park director lives in the Far East, leading to timing difficulties.

“Douglas reacted to our approach immediately with expert advice and support at all times of the day and night and the standard of service could not have been bettered.”

Lindsays partner, John Lee, also provided employment law advice to SPP.

Mr Roberts said: “We were delighted to have advised Stark’s Park Properties in this important takeover and we hope this restructuring will enable the club to achieve its aim of “Roaring Back” whilst also bringing financial stability for the future.”
