Levy & McRae’s media team has advised Candle True Stories during the production of its hit documentary series Should I Marry A Murderer?

The show aired on Netflix on 29 April and has become the number one show streaming on the platform in the UK.

The three-part series tells the devastating story of a cyclist who “vanished” during a charity bike ride in 2017, and how Dr Caroline Muirhead came to be the key witness in uncovering his whereabouts and cause of death.

Levy & McRae was in a unique position to advise Candle True Stories owing to its extensive experience in both media law and criminal defence.

Senior partner David McKie led the legal team. He said: “This is a compelling true story which CTS have told brilliantly. It is fabulous that Netflix are supporting and promoting it so prominently, as it deserves. The energy of the team pulling it all together was inspirational and it was a real privilege for us to play our part in the production process.”

Senior solicitor, Olivia Robertson, was heavily involved in the legalling process. She added: “It was a joy to be a part of a project like this. The team at Candle True Stories have created a truly gripping story and I am not in the least surprised it has reached the number one spot on Netflix in the UK.”
