Lawyers in Glasgow were welcomed to an event celebrating the acquisition of Scottish Legal News by Hero Media & Entertainment, a newly-established division of the Hero Brands group.
About 70 guests gathered for a reception on the rooftop terrace of the House of Gods hotel on Glassford Street last Thursday to toast the deal. SLN was part of the Dundee Press Agency, which Hero acquired this month along with sister titles Scottish Financial News, Scottish Housing News, Scottish Construction Now and Irish Legal News.

Graham Ogilvy, who founded the agency and will remain with the business, said SLN had become a must-read for those in the legal profession and that he looked forward to further growth under Hero.

He reflected too on the many issues which SLN has been involved with over the years including its opposition to attacks on the rule of law from Holyrood and Westminster, attempts to abolish juries and decimation of the legal aid budget. He also paid tribute to the publication’s loyal readership of solicitors, advocates, judges, academics and law students, who have contributed so much to it over the years.
