Professor Rob Dunbar, Dr Catriona McMillan and Eamon Keane all received medals.
Professor Rob Dunbar, chair of Celtic languages, literatures, history & antiquities, at Edinburgh University, received the Sir Walter Scott Medal for his international role in furthering policies relating to the promotion and legal protection of minority languages, his prominent and long-standing contribution to the support and development of Scottish Gaelic language and policy in this country and high-quality research in the area of Gaelic literature and culture generally.
Professor Dunbar is a lawyer by background and was formerly a legal academic at Glasgow and Aberdeen.
Dr McMillan, reader in medical law and ethics at Edinburgh University, was awarded the Dame Muriel Spark Medal for her pioneering research in medical law and ethics, and specifically in the field of ‘femtech’.
