Law Society of Scotland to launch new advertising campaign

The Law Society of Scotland is launching a new, consumer-focused advertising campaign in October to promote the work of Scottish solicitors as trusted, regulated legal professionals. The new print and digital campaign, which will be launched on 16 October, will also raise the profile of the Law Society’s web-based find a solicitor search tool – used by almost half a million unique visitors every month. The new adverts depict just some of the situations that solicitors help their clients with, from advice on wills, personal injury, power of attorney, buying a new home or growing their business. In addition to running a digital campaign, the ads will feature on trains across Scotland and in stations in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen throughout October and November.

Laura Butcher, head of communications at the Law Society of Scotland, said: “We’re excited about the launch of our new campaign. Thousands of people contact the Law Society every month online and by phone, looking for a solicitor’s advice on their particular circumstances. We have recently improved our online search function to help both members of the public and businesses find a solicitor to help, whether they are searching for advice in a certain area of law or looking for a local solicitor, safe in the knowledge that they are choosing a regulated legal professional.

“Our find a solicitor search lists every practising Scottish solicitor and is updated daily, so whether a solicitor moves to a new job, provides a new service at their firm, qualifies as a solicitor advocate or becomes an accredited specialist, they can ensure that people find them on find a solicitor by updating their membership profile.”

Find a solicitor results are listed randomly in each search carried out, giving all firms an equal chance of being listed. The online search tool also helps with cyber security by allowing would-be clients to check their solicitor is a registered, regulated professional.
