A seminar in celebration of the Scottish Law Commission’s 50th anniversary will feature Laura Dunlop QC, convenor of the Faculty of Advocates’ Law Reform Committee, as one of the speakers.

The event, being presented by the Scottish Public Law Group, will explore the work of the Commission and how it contributes to law reform in Scotland.

A keynote address is to be given by Lord Pentland, Chairman of the Commission, while Ms Dunlop, who served as a Commissioner from 2009-14, will reflect on a recently-published Commission report on deprivation of liberty in the context of adult incapacity.

David Johnston QC, who was appointed a Commissioner at the start of the year, will discuss what lessons might be learned from the past for conducting law reform in the future.

The event is being held in the Laigh Hall on Thursday, 19 November, and full details are available from Eventbrite.
