JUSTICE Scotland events to explore human rights and rule of law

On Monday 16 March, JUSTICE Scotland will host two events exploring the impact of human rights and the rule of law.

A panel discussion in the afternoon will examine the European Convention on Human Rights and its impact in Scotland. Chaired by Angela O’Hagan (chair of the Scottish Human Rights Commission), it will also feature Aaliya Seyal (CEO at Legal Services Agency), Hussein Patwa (accessibility consultant and panel member of the SNAP2 – the Scottish national action plan for human rights), and Nathalie Stevenson (Manager at VOX Scotland).

It takes place in the McKenzie Building within the Faculty of Advocates and registration is from 2pm, with the discussion starting at 2.30pm. The session ends with a drinks and networking reception, finishing at 5.00pm.

This event is held in collaboration with the Scottish Legal Action Group.

This year’s JUSTICE Scotland lecture, to be held in the evening, is a joint conversation between Catherine Smith, advocate general for Scotland, and Sir Ian Forrester, renowned European law practitioner.

Held at the Signet Library, with registration from 5.30pm, the lecture will be followed by a drinks and networking reception and is sponsored by Pinsent Masons.

Attendance is free. To secure your place, please register for one or both sessions here.
