The Scottish Young Lawyers’ Association held an event last night in Edinburgh kindly hosted by the Society of Solicitors in the Supreme Courts of Scotland, which saw current and past UK Supreme Court Judicial Assistants explain exactly what they do at the UK’s highest court.

The JAs delivered insightful reflections on their roles and stressed the privileges afforded them by this “dream job”.

Ewan McCaig and James Fagan, both current JAs, gave details of the application and interview process and the kind of work JAs do, which includes preparing press summaries as well as the daunting task of discussing cases with the Justices.

Alice Normand, a past JA, gave attendees an idea of how the job can shape and influence a career.

The Supreme Court is currently accepting applications for the next batch of Judicial Assistants. To find out more, visit the application page here.
