High praise and top rankings for Arnot Manderson Advocates in Legal 500

Arnot Manderson Advocates has received high praise and top rankings from the Legal 500.

The stable once again achieved a Tier 1 ranking and was noted as ‘handling instructions across a broad spectrum of areas, including commercial litigation, family, personal injury and medical negligence, intellectual property and employment law, and also reports an uptick in public law instructions.’ It was also noted that ‘Crime is another area of strength’ for the Stable.

The stable’s Family Law Group again fared well and it was noted ‘Cases with cross-border elements are a recognised area of expertise for the team’. Established silks Kate Dowdalls QC and Jonathan Mitchell QC and juniors Frank Burr, Alan Inglis and Nicola Gilchrist all achieved Tier 1 rankings in Family and Childcare Law.

The stable continues to boast a number of counsel with rankings across various Practice Areas. Besides his Family ranking Jonathan Mitchell QC was also ranked in Civil Liberties and Commercial Litigation. Frank Burr was also ranked in the Property category. Hugh Olson once again achieved rankings across different practice areas including the Personal Injuries, Medical and Professional Negligence and Employment categories.

Joining Hugh with a Tier 1 ranking in the PI, Med. and Prof Neg. category are Gerry Hanretty QC, Andrew Young QC, Neil Mackenzie, Nick Gardiner, Ruth Charteris and Gordon Balfour. Gordon is noted as a Leading silk in the Professional Negligence category and also features in another area of strength for the stable namely Commercial Litigation where he is joined by Iain Mitchell QC who enjoys the distinction of Leading Silk.

Iain Mitchell QC who was described as ‘unafraid to take an unconventional approach to cases’ was also commended in Intellectual Property, Information Technology and Media as was Duncan Hamilton, about whom it was said ‘He is always willing to go the extra mile in cases’.

In addition, Colin MacAulay QC who is currently instructed as senior counsel to the Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry has been ranked the Health and Safety and Regulatory field.
