Harper Macleod partner Paula Skinner named in UK’s Hot 100 lawyers

Paula Skinner, a partner in the corporate team at Harper Macleod, has been named as one of the UK’s standout lawyers by a legal publication.

She is the only lawyer from a Scottish firm to feature in The Lawyer magazine’s Hot 100 2015 – a list compiled after months of research into candidates’ client work and contribution to their firms and the profession.Ms Skinner specialises in advising entrepreneurs and businesses in the early stage and high-growth arena, and has worked closely with business accelerator Entrepreneurial Spark from its inception through to the current UK roll-out.

She is also recognised as one of Scotland’s leading advisers on crowdfunding.

This year’s Hot 100 list, split evenly between men and women, included a wide range of practitioners.

The magazine said: “Skinner has carved out a niche for herself representing start-ups and high-growth and entrepreneurial technology companies.

“Her expertise has brought in so much of this type of work to the firm that she now heads the firm’s dedicated start-up and investment team. Watch this space.”

Ms Skinner said: “I’m thrilled to have been recognised like this, but it’s really a tribute to the brilliant team we have and the great clients and organisations we get to work with.

“This week also marks my 10th anniversary with Harper Macleod, so it’s a double celebration for me. I’ll be honest, I love my job and that’s because there’s so much enthusiasm around and businesses and clients willing to break new ground. Harper Macleod shares that ethos and that’s why we’ve been able to make our mark.”
