Harper Macleod chief executive shortlisted for director award

Martin Darroch

Martin Darroch, chief executive of Harper Macleod, has been shortlisted for this year’s Institute of Directors Scotland “Director of the Year Awards” – the only law firm leader on the lists.

In total 42 directors, described by the organisers as the “crème de la crème of Scotland’s business leaders”, go through to the final stages, to be held at Glasgow’s Crowne Plaza Hotel next month.

Mr Darroch, a chartered accountant by profession who celebrates a decade as chief executive of Harper Macleod this year, is shortlisted in the “Glasgow & West of Scotland Director of the Year” category.

He said: “I’m delighted to be named on the shortlist among such creative and inspirational figures in Scotland’s business community. I think it’s testament to the way Harper Macleod is viewed as a successful, efficient business that we are recognised in awards such as these, and it’s only down to the hard work of everyone at the firm that this is possible.”

Among its awards, Harper Macleod has been named “Scottish Law firm of the Year” seven times, while, along with chairman Professor Lorne Crerar, Mr Darroch has picked up “Managing Partner of the Year” five times.
