Gordon Lindhorst to stand as Conservative candidate for Edinburgh South West

Advocate Gordon Lindhorst is standing as the Conservative candidate in Edinburgh South West in the general election.

The seat has been represented by a member of the Faculty of Advocatessince 1974, with Malcolm Rifkind QC, Linda Clark QC and currently,Alastair Darling, who is standing down at the election.

Mr. Lindhorst lives in the constituency and has spent most of his time in Edinburgh since graduating from Edinburgh University with an LLB (Honours), followed by a traineeship in Edinburgh with a WS firm.

Before calling to the Scottish bar in 1995, Mr. Lindhorst studied European Law, completing an LLM degree at Heidelberg University.

He is currently visiting lecturer in Scottish and English Court Procedureat the law faculty of the University of Bonn.

He has prosecuted on behalf of the Crown and defended cases in the sheriff and High Courts, acted in major commercial cases, and appeared for and against public bodies in civil matters.

A major part of his practice has consisted of acting on behalf of legally aided parties.

Mr. Lindhorst has actively campaigned on numerous issues, including for theNo campaign, and stood for election in Edinburgh and the Lothians previously.

His selection has been endorsed by current Scottish MEP Ian Duncan who said: “Gordon would make an excellent MP for Edinburgh South West and bring valuable knowledge, experience and understanding of the issues which affect us as a nation at local, European and international level.”
