Gillian Mawdsley reflects on role of lawyers and others in the Holocaust

In a video that was filmed to mark Holocaust Memorial Day, Gillian Mawdsley, policy executive at the Law Society of Scotland, reflects on the role that civil servants, lawyers and legislation had to play in facilitating the policies that enabled Nazi atrocities. 

This year’s theme is ‘Be the light in the darkness’ and aims to encourage all of us to reflect on the depths humanity can sink to – but also how individuals and communities sought to ‘be the light’ before, during and after the genocide.
